Built by the Inca people in Peru, in an area considered “magic” at the junction of the Andean and Amazonian territories. Machu Picchu hides still now a fascinating mystery. The official historical records indicate its discovery on July 24, 1911, the American archaeologist Hiram Bingham, was found, thanks to an unexpected windfall, the “Lost City”, last refuge of the Incas with the advance of the Spanish conquistadors. Machu Picchu is hidden between mountains and cliffs, and cloud cover.

The settlement stands on a hill located between Machu Picchu (Old Mountain) north and Huayna Picchu (Young Mountain), south, below, is an impressive cliff 400 m high, running the Urubamba River. All around, the vegetation has guarded the impenetrable mystery for centuries. It was built at 2350 m in height between 1460 and 1470 by the desire of the king Pachacuti. BOGOTA’s GOLD MUSEUM: 50 THOUSAND ITEMS OF GOLD AND OTHER MATERIALS

The Gold Museum Bank of Republic, as known today, has 37 years of existence. Since 1939 the Central Bank has taken the task of rescuing the pre-Columbian pieces were found and traded by “looters” (illegal excavators) throughout the country. The number of pieces increased, from a boardroom went to a small showroom in the basement of the Bank, and in 1968 the museum was conceived, occupying an entire building, decorated with marble and awarded the National Architecture Award 1970.

The four-levels building housed small rooms and the Golden Hall, where the collection of 50 thousand pieces of gold, ceramic, wood, stone and textiles were exposed and preserved.
